Company Milestone

The technological know-how behind MSP is the result of more than two decades of experience. These are our stories and legacies, from which we pledge to keep our commitment in providing the best:

Established as CV Mitra Stania Prima in 1995, operated as a sub-contractor for PT Timah Tbk and perform small scale mining activities and deliver the mined tin ore to their smelter in Mentok.

Reorganized as PT Mitra Stania Prima (MSP) and was awarded with 6 tin mining concessions in Bangka Island in 2001.

Built a two-furnaces smelter in the industrial complex outside the city of Sungailiat, Bangka Island.

Formed a Joint Venture Agreement with the Malaysian Smelting Corporation (MSC) to conduct exploration activities on the MSP mining concessions site and to operate the smelter.

MSC commissioned Reinhard (Australia) to study the results of the exploration project and issued a certified report.

Received JORC Compliant Statement of Resources as follow:

  • Mapur IUP – 3.170 tonnes Sn
  • Kepoh IUP – 2.954 tonnes Sn
  • Bemban IUP – 4.511 tonnes Sn

2004 - 2010

The Joint Venture between MSP and MSC embraces other tin concessions operator that has no smelters facility. Purchased the tin ore, smelted them and exported the tin ingots under the MSP Brand to the international market.

In 2011, Arsari Tambang purchased 80% of the outstanding shares of MSP. Since there haven’t been any mining activity, MSP purchased the tin ore material, continue with the smelting process and trade it under the MSP brand.

MSP started mining activity and signed contract with PT Hero Krida Utama (HKU) to begin overburden removal of the waste material covering the Mapur tin ore reserves (between 14-18 meters in depth). During this year, MSP is the first seller of physical tin at ICDX.

August 2013 see the completion of construction of a 40-cell field washing plant capable of processing 100.000 m3 cumulative tin ore per month. The production of tin ore from Mapur concession site begins in October.

MicroMine issued the JORC Compliant Statement of Economic Mineable Reserves on the Mapur tin concession based on updated drilling results and also on the Kepoh and Bemban tin concessions site. The results were:

  • Mapur – 5.747 tonnes Sn of mineable, economic, confirmed, reserves (ingot sales)
  • Kepoh – 4.967 tonnes of tin ore (Sn) resources
  • Bemban – 5.910 tonnes of tin ore (Sn) resources

2015: Additional 20-cell field washing plant is constructed to increase the capability of processing up to 150.000 m3 cumulative tin ore per month.

Arsari Tambang appointed new management team to rebuild, restructure and reshape MSP operations in 2019. This year there is a new regulation which restricted only one IUP per company, so the two additional tin concessions in Kepoh and Bemban were moved to other company within the Arsari Group.

The company has achieved a record production of 3,299 tons, the largest in the history of MSP.

The company’s net sales in 2021 has increased by 74 percent as compared to last year due to an increase in the global tin commodity prices
