JAKARTA – PT Mitra Stania Prima utilizes electricity supplied by Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) as part of the company’s commitment to supporting energy transition and strengthening sustainable mining practices.
MSP’s Operational Director, An Sudarno, said that the use of RECs is a strategic step for the company to reduce indirect emissions or Scope 2, while also encouraging the implementation of tin mining operations that are more environmentally friendly and low carbon.
REC is a certificate that guarantees that the electricity used comes from renewable energy sources. “Through this scheme, PT Mitra Stania Prima ensures that its electricity consumption in its operational activities is in line with the principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility,” said An Sudarno, Monday (9/2/2026).
The use of REC-based electricity is carried out in collaboration with PT PLN (Persero).
In addition to supporting the company’s decarbonization agenda, this step also contributes to PLN’s efforts to develop and expand renewable energy projects in Indonesia.
In its implementation, said An Sdarno, the company integrates REC-based electricity into various technologies and key equipment in its operational areas. “This includes its use in furnaces and tin refining processes that require large energy consumption,” he said.
In addition, RECs are also used in production support equipment such as rotary dryers, overhead cranes, and WP automation systems that support efficiency and work safety in the mining environment.
Not only that, the company also uses REC-based electricity for electric forklift operations, as part of efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
“This step is expected to strengthen PT Mitra Stania Prima’s position as a mining industry player committed to sustainable practices and national energy transition,” said An Sudarno.
